Editorial Policy

This page sets out the standards NRI Globe holds itself to. If you believe we have fallen short, please tell us at editor@nriglobe.com.
1. Mission
NRI Globe exists to serve the global Indian diaspora with accurate, original, and useful journalism. Everything we publish should help our readers make better-informed decisions about life as an NRI — whether that decision is about a visa, an investment, a holiday, or a festival.
2. Sourcing
- We rely on primary sources whenever possible: government press releases, official policy documents, court filings, regulator announcements, on-the-record interviews, and verifiable data.
- When we cite secondary sources (other publications, wire services, social media), we attribute clearly and link out where the source permits it.
- We do not publish anonymous quotes unless the source faces a credible risk of harm and the information cannot be obtained on-record. Anonymous sourcing is approved by an editor in advance.
- Numerical claims, immigration rules, tax thresholds, and similar facts are checked against the originating authority before publication.
3. Fact-Checking and Editing
Every article is reviewed by a second person — a senior writer or editor — before publication. The reviewer checks:
- That every factual claim is supported by a source.
- That sources are quoted accurately and in context.
- That headlines and summaries fairly represent the body of the article.
- That images are properly licensed and credited.
- That there are no obvious legal or ethical concerns.
4. Use of AI
We may use AI tools to assist with research, transcription, headline drafting, copy editing, and translation. We do not publish unedited, AI-generated articles. A named human writer is responsible for every published piece, including its accuracy.
5. Bylines and Author Identity
Every article carries a byline identifying its author. Author profile pages at /authors/describe the writer’s role, areas of focus, and any relevant credentials. We do not invent fictional bylines.
6. Independence and Conflicts of Interest
- Our journalism is independent of advertisers, sponsors, and political or corporate interests. Sponsored content is clearly labeled — see our Advertising Policy.
- Writers disclose any personal, financial, or family relationship that could be perceived as a conflict on the stories they cover.
- Free travel, gifts, or services from sources or sponsors are not accepted without editorial approval and clear disclosure to readers.
7. Originality and Plagiarism
We publish original work. Quoting from another publication is fine when properly attributed; copying without attribution is not. We take plagiarism seriously and will retract and publicly correct any confirmed instance.
8. Images, Audio, and Video
- We use only images we own, license, or that are made available under a permissive license (Creative Commons, public domain, free stock).
- Image credits are listed in the caption or article footer.
- We do not materially alter news photos. Cropping for layout, basic colour correction, and watermark removal on owned imagery are permitted.
9. Corrections and Updates
When we get something wrong, we fix it openly. See our Corrections Policy for how corrections are recorded and displayed.
10. Reader Engagement
We welcome news tips at tips@nriglobe.com, story suggestions at editor@nriglobe.com, and feedback via our contact form.
